Artist's Comments

Not sure where to put this, I figure sculpture will be the most helpful category.

Painting miniatures is about the only form of visual art I feel comfortable doing. I don't have the steadiest hand, but while they are tiny, I also have most of my composition lain out for me. Also, I don't have to worry about proportions.

This is the second paint job I've ever really felt proud of, and the first one I've used a wash on. It's also the third one I've successfully done eyes on. The eyes aren't that great (and difficult to see in the pictures) but they're better than nothing.

As you can see, I'm still in the Paint-by-Numbers stage of miniature painting, but I'm working on becoming more sophisticated. The feeling of accomplishment I get from my greater successes so far makes me want to get even better. I've started understanding the wash, next step is drybrushing, and then I'll move into shading and fades.

Model: Damian Helthorne by Reaper Miniatures
Paints: Delta Ceramcoats, acrylic
Primer: Some white spray my brother had.
Wash: Paint, heavily diluted in a 60/40 solution of water and Future Floor Polish.
Varnish: I cannot recall at this time.
